Field Trips at the Arboretum

Come to the Arboretum for a seasonal learning experience in our gardens.

Find a Field Trip: Use the filters below to find a Field Trip for your class.

Reserve your Field Trip:

  • You may pay online at the time of booking or at least 30 days before your Field Trip program date.
  • Schedule 1 - 3 Classes per time slot. If you have more than 3 classes, book more than one time slot.
  • Check with your school bus company to ensure they are available for field trip transportation at the times you need, especially early morning and afternoon.
# of Adults on your Field trip: The total # of accompanying adults allowed on a field trip, including teachers, is a maximum of 1 adult per 5 students. The minimum requirement is 1 adult per 10 students. One-on-one paras with students are not included in the adult count. 
 
Lunch guidelines for field trips: In the fall and spring, outdoor lunch spaces are available by the Learning Center for groups on a first-come, first-served basis. November 1-April 1, groups may reserve indoor lunch space at the Learning Center for $25 per class.
 
Final student count: If your count has changed more than 5 students from the original booking, please contact us at 612-301-1210 or [email protected]. If your count has changed by only a few, there is no need to contact us.
 

(Optional) Add a self-guided option Want more time to explore the Arboretum? Add a Self-Guided Option before or after your scheduled field trip! The Self-Guided Visit option is FREE when added onto a field trip!

Scholarships opened for qualifying schools on Aug. 29, 2023. Quantities were limited and all existing scholarships are claimed for the 2023-2024 school year.

Field Trips are highly organized! Your bus will arrive and check-in at the Arboretum Main Gate. The gate attendant will direct your driver where to go. Once you arrive at the Field Trip location, the Arboretum Teaching Team will greet you and lead the Field Trip.

Multiple stations & activities: We set up a rotation for the classes to cycle through each learning station.

Storage: Bins and/or racks are provided inside to hold gear, supplies, lunches, or outdoor clothing when it is not in use.

Bus directions: Give your bus driver Directions to the Arboretum.

Cancellation Policy: No refunds if you cancel less than 30 days in advance. In extreme weather conditions, we reserve the right to cancel programs for Field Trip safety. You will not be charged a cancellation fee under these circumstances. Review our cancellation policies.
