Concepts and Activities

As summer turns to fall, celebrate the season with pumpkins! Discover the diversity of the pumpkin family and uncover the secrets behind growing giant pumpkins.

  • Help weigh our giant pumpkin and marvel at the variety of shapes, sizes and colors.
  • Go on a garden  life cycle hunt, keeping an eye out for plants in different stages of growth throughout the garden.
  • Plant a pumpkin seed experiment — take home your own seeds to grow and observe.
  • Learn to classify like a plant scientist by sorting seeds and fruits for a tasty treat!*

*Seeds and fruits for tasting include diced dried apples, sunflower seeds, popcorn, dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds.
