Concepts and Activities

How do plants grow from seed to flower and back to seed again? Take a jouney through plant life cycles in this engaging sensory exploration of plant parts and growth.

  • Discover the five parts of the plants--roots, leaves, stems, flowers and seeds--and their unique functions.
  • Observe the diversity of plants in the "Please Touch" Greenhouse. Look for differences in color, size, shape, smell and texture on the sensory scavenger hunt.
  • Enjoy a lively plant parts puppet show and get your whole body moving with an action story about plant life cycles.
  • Get hands-on by planting your own seeds and extend the learning back to your classroom with a follow-up science experiment.
