$35 member/$55 non-member, includes beekeeping suit and gloves to borrow during the program (adult suits are available in sizes XS-2XL) and Arboretum admission

Instructor: Ping Honzay, Beekeeper at the Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center

Get special access for an up-close look at the inner workings of a honey bee hive by joining in on an inspection of one of the hives at the Arboretum’s Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center. You’ll put on a beekeeping suit, join beekeeper Ping as she opens a hive, and even have a chance to hold a frame of live honey bees. Along the way you’ll learn more about the life of a hive and how we work with these fascinating creatures.

Notes:

This class is weather dependent: in the case of inclement weather, participants will be notified and issued a refund.
Attendees must wear closed toe shoes (beekeeping suits will cover your whole body, except for your feet).
This session is only open to participants who are 18 and older.

Arboretum entry instructions

You will receive a bar-code ticket for entry to the Arboretum in your email purchase confirmation. Your ticket is valid for entry on the day of your class. Present your ticket to the gate attendant as you enter the Arboretum. You may stay at the Arboretum after class as long as you want during our operating hours.
