Activities and Concepts
Keep the cold out by bringing the warmth of the desert into your classroom! With the chance to explore and discover a variety of real, live desert plants, students become desert explorers as they investigate this extreme environment — uncovering the surprising tricks plants (and explorers!) use to survive.
- Compare a plant’s life in Minnesota to life in the desert, and discover how to safely touch the prickly plant parts!
- Go on a desert plant adaptation hunt through the classroom to investigate unique characteristics through hands-on exploration of real plants.
- Each student will plant their own succulent desert plant to take home.
