Learning Format: Online and self-paced, ProHort can be completed on your own schedule and is accessible by computer, tablet or smartphone. Interactive quizzes help assess knowledge, and course coordinator is available for questions.
Skill Level: ProHort is designed for homeowners, hobbyists, industry professionals, educators and anyone seeking a comprehensive foundational horticulture education from University of Minnesota Extension.
Equipment: A computer or mobile device with internet access is required to participate in the course. Smartphones and tablets work best with the free Canvas app.
Completion: The estimated time commitment is 40 to 60 hours. A certificate is awarded upon completion.
Age: 18 and older
Course Coordinator:
Laura Vogel is the Adult Education Manager and ProHort Course Coordinator at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Her education includes a B.S. in Horticulture from Purdue University and an M.S. in Horticulture from the University of Delaware. Laura has worked in the horticulture field across two decades and seven states, from retail and production to research and education.
Cancellation Policy: Registration may be transferred to another student through July 1 by contacting the Education Office listed below. A $25 fee applies to cancellations made before June 17; no cancellations after June 17.
