Grab your grocery list and shopping cart—it’s time to go grocery shopping in the greenhouse! Discover a secret… most foods we eat are made from plants! See real food plants in the greenhouse and determine which plant part we eat: the fruit, root, stem or seed? Take a bite out of a toasty snack and learn how the SUN is the first part of everything we eat! Today’s activities include: art and planting projects, sensory activities, imaginative play and more. Spark your child’s appreciation for the world of plants and leave knowing the answer to this important question: Did you eat a plant today?

Here are a few things to note:

  • This program is run open house style, with a storytime and self-directed activities guided by staff and volunteers.
  • This is an adult with child program. Adults attend and participate in activities with their child. The program is designed for ages 5 and younger.
  • Siblings younger than 3 who participate in projects must be registered at the regular rate.
  • November and December sessions will be held primarily indoors, with outdoor options.
  • Please dress for outdoor activities: layers in the winter (snow pants, hat, mittens) and rain gear in the spring (puddle boots, raincoat)

Arboretum entry instructions

You will receive a bar-code ticket for entry to the Arboretum in your email purchase confirmation. Your ticket is valid for entry on the day of your class. Present your ticket to the gate attendant as you enter the Arboretum. You may stay at the Arboretum after class as long as you want during our operating hours.
