It’s maple syrup time at the Arboretum! Can you find the tasty golden treasure? Explore the magical maple forest and see how sap is collected from real trees and transformed into syrup. What exactly is sap anyway and what does it taste like? See the giant cooker in the mysterious sugar shack and taste the golden treasure! Journey through the squishy bog for more maple fun at the Learning Center. Today’s activities include: a yummy storytime, colorful craft, greenhouse scavenger hunt and a very lucky planting project. Get ready to tap-tap-tap that sap when we practice our fine motor skills and pretend to build a fire. Ignite your child’s imagination as we find the sweet sweet reward at the end of the rainbow!

Here are a few things to note:

  • This program is run open house style, with a storytime and self-directed activities guided by staff and volunteers.
  • This is an adult with child program. Adults attend and participate in activities with their child. The program is designed for ages 5 and younger.
  • Siblings younger than 3 who participate in projects must be registered at the regular rate.
  • February and March will be both outdoors and indoors.
  • Please dress for outdoor activities: layers in the winter (snow pants, hat, mittens) and rain gear in the spring (puddle boots, raincoat).

Arboretum entry instructions

You will receive a bar-code ticket for entry to the Arboretum in your email purchase confirmation. Your ticket is valid for entry on the day of your class. Present your ticket to the gate attendant as you enter the Arboretum. You may stay at the Arboretum after class as long as you want during our operating hours.
