It’s time to meet an evergreen—a plant that stays green in the winter! Meet a real evergreen tree during a puppet show; learn about their shape, color, size, and special plant parts. What exactly are cones anyway and how do evergreens help animals during the winter? Discover different evergreen branches and play with cones in the CONE ZONE. Create a triangle-shaped craft and eat a triangle-shaped snack! Choose from a small evergreen scavenger hunt outside in the Green Play Yard, or a BIG evergreen adventure in the forest. Today’s activities include: art and planting projects, sensory activities, trikes, and more. Grow your child’s understanding of the importance of trees and leave knowing what it feels like to be green.

Here are a few things to note:

  • This program is run open house style, with a storytime and self-directed activities guided by staff and volunteers.
  • This is an adult with child program. Adults attend and participate in activities with their child. The program is designed for ages 5 and younger.
  • Siblings younger than 3 who participate in projects must be registered at the regular rate.
  • November and December sessions will be held primarily indoors, with outdoor options.
  • Please dress for outdoor activities: layers in the winter (snow pants, hat, mittens) and rain gear in the spring (puddle boots, raincoat).

Arboretum entry instructions

You will receive a bar-code ticket for entry to the Arboretum in your email purchase confirmation. Your ticket is valid for entry on the day of your class. Present your ticket to the gate attendant as you enter the Arboretum. You may stay at the Arboretum after class as long as you want during our operating hours.
