Class Overview: 

Explore the beauty of landscape photography in this hands-on class led by professional photographer Cameron Williams. Cameron has climbed mountain peaks, explored caves, and photographed a wide variety of landscapes and biomes in between. Join him and fellow photographers as you learn techniques for capturing diverse landscapes and creating compelling outdoor images. You'll begin in the classroom with an overview of key concepts before heading out to the Arboretum's iconic landscapes to practice what you've learned.

In this class you will:

  • Improve your landscape composition skills
  • Prepare for photographing on hiking and outdoor adventures
  • Gain confidence using your camera beyond Auto mode
  • Walk and practice your new skills outdoors at the Arboretum with instructor guidance

Equipment to bring to class:

  • Any camera with manual settings
  • Tripod (preferred) 
  • Shutter Release (optional) 
  • Something to take notes

Cameron Williams is a fine art nature photographer based in Minnesota. He is the founder of Striped Moon Studios whose work focuses on beautifully blending the serenity of nature with the intrigue of abstraction. His landscape photography captures the quiet majesty of the natural world — from sweeping cliffs and rugged coastlines to serene forests and mist-covered mountains. In addition to his stunning landscapes, Cameron’s abstract photography explores the interplay between natural forms and the unexpected patterns that emerge within them. By focusing on elements like water, shadows and the subtle shifts in the environment, he transforms everyday outdoor scenes into thought-provoking, emotive art.

Arboretum entry instructions


We recommend that you enter the Arboretum via the back gate on 82nd St, not the main entrance on Hwy 5. This is the most direct route to access the Farm at the Arb, and avoids potential delays when driving through the Arboretum.

If you do wish to enter through the main Arboretum gate on Hwy 5, you can take 3-Mile Drive through the Arboretum and turn right on Peter Moe Drive to get to the Bee Center (this route may take an additional 15-20 minutes, so please plan accordingly). 

Main Entry instructions:
You will receive a bar-code ticket for entry to the Arboretum in your email purchase confirmation. Your ticket is valid for entry on the day of your class. Present your ticket to the gate attendant as you enter the Arboretum. You may stay at the Arboretum after class as long as you want during our operating hours.
