Students studying Surface Design at the University of Minnesota represented the diversity of life at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum through print. Inspired by rare books from the Andersen Horticultural Library, the students created work celebrating the Library, the Arboretum, and the wildlife within. - May 7-June 16, 2026
Walk toward the trees! Take in Mary Pat Maracle’s textured photo encaustics of detailed broadleafs and Kristen Palm’s vivid, representational abstract trees and landscapes. Step back to experience Palm’s bold colors and shapes that evoke our tall sylvan relatives in acrylic, then step closer to observe the blankets of palpable wax, layered intricately by Maracle. Though both artists depict trees in different ways – sometimes playful and loud, other times ghostly with an underlying structure of branches and twigs – each style of work celebrates their own connection to the trees that surround us.
- March 25-May 17, 2026
Where The Seed Remembers is an immersive multicultural community art exhibit that celebrates earth, creation, lineage and memory. It is co-curated by artist, storyteller, and cultural architect Joshua "Brotha Asé" Gillespie. This exhibition and accompanying celebration and community gatherings honors the connection between Mother Earth and the human experience. It explores birth, nurturing, protection, identity, grief, joy and the giving and receiving cycles. The experience blends visual art, sacred storytelling, spoken word, and communal reflection to reawaken connection in a time of disconnection.
These stories, artworks and reflections are presented by 10 Minnesota artists representing the Black, Indigenous, Latiné, East African and Afro-Caribbean communities. The Opening Celebration event on March 29 from noon to 3 pm will include food from K's Revolutionary Catering, music and live entertainment and artist-audience engagement.
- March 19-May 4, 2026
In a world defined by constant motion, "Stillpoint, Changing Line" explores the tension between what we hold onto and what we let go. This exhibition serves to illustrate that nothing remains static. Rather, the "line" is both a boundary and a path, marking the edge of what is known while leading us toward what is becoming.
The exhibition brings together four distinct voices to explore as they move from the rigid and structural to the fluid and ephemeral. Viewers are invited to travel a complete spectrum of artistic interpretation as they enjoy “still world” of flower cloches to the kinetic power of untamed motion found in paintings.
- Jan. 29-March 22, 2026
"A Chorus of Wings" is a unique exhibition that brings together four distinct artistic voices, all united by a profound appreciation for our feathered friends. Their passion is evident in the craftsmanship and feeling of each work.
Marvel at this delightful show filled with a variety of styles and mediums including acrylic, ink and colored pencil to ceramics as diverse as the birds they celebrate.
