Artists Rachele Krivichi and Deanna Mayer immerse themselves in the outdoors, noticing colors, textures and materials to create artwork that transforms and enriches the indoor space, bringing elements of nature indoors. Krivichi’s multimedia works in acrylic and collage illustrate the interplay between nature and the intimate world of the interior, providing a counterpoint to Mayer’s botanical bas-relief sculptures that seem to capture and preserve a moment in time.

Cost: Included with general daily admission, which is free for members and ages 15 and younger and $20-$25 for non-members ages 16 and older. Indigenous peoples receive waived general daily admission to the Arboretum when making a reservation by calling 612-301-6775.

Artist Meet & Greet
Don’t miss a Meet & Greet with Rachel Krivichi from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.

This body of work combines a love of the outdoors with a passion for highly decorated interiors.

The natural world inspires many of the patterns on our interior decorating finishes, including wallpaper, fabrics and textiles.

We are often trying to create a “natural” or “nature-inspired” feel in our interior spaces, often forgetting we once lived much more closely with nature. The multimedia pieces in this collection — created with acrylic paint and collage — are at once a comment on how much we admire nature and how deeply out of touch we are with it. The “living” elements in the pieces, such as the deer in the doorway and the clematis coming in through the window, in conjunction with the interior patterns inspired by their existence, remind us to step outside of our homes and engage with the natural world.

Rachele Krivichi is an interdisciplinary artist based in St. Paul, MN. She works with collage, paint, interior decorating, digital drawing, photography and writing. Whenever she can, she tries to make art with recycled material. Her practice is highly informed by her outdoor adventurings.

My fascination with floristry began in childhood when I received a flower press as a gift. Years later, I pursued formal education in floral design, gained experience in floral design studios, and eventually established my own venture specializing in wedding flowers.

Even now, I continue to design for weddings, finding solace and inspiration in the abundance of beautiful flowers. Recently, I ventured into the world of botanical bas-relief, a relatively new artistic pursuit for me.

The process of capturing and celebrating nature in stone has been immensely rewarding, drawing on the diverse skills I've acquired over the years. My hope is that these unique and lovely pieces will bring you years of joy!
