The Cafe Gallery

The Cafe Gallery is an exhibit space adjacent to the Eatery on the second floor of the Oswald Visitor Center. It features special exhibits throughout the year, including photography from the Arboretum Photographers Society. Check out this more intimate and informal space for delightful interpretations of Arboretum seasons, fanciful prints and other photography exhibits in conjunction with Arboretum seasonal exhibits and displays.
All artwork is available for sale through the Gift & Garden Store. A portion of proceeds benefits the Arboretum.

Sanctuary: A Batik Journey by Kim Gordon
April 20-June 18
Experience the ancient art of batik, a technique that uses successive layers of liquid pigment and hot wax resist to define color, value and form. Inspired by direct observation of the natural world, Kim Gordon brings her influences inward as a journey to solace and new perspectives that reconnect again to the outward world.
The Landscapes and Flowers of Stephanie Spencer
June 22-Aug. 20
Flowers will be blooming inside and out at the Arboretum thanks to Stephanie Spencer’s creations, defined by rich hues and sumptuous images, all made possible with paint and a palette knife. Stop by between noon and 2 p.m. on June 24 for an Artist Meet & Greet to chat with Spencer about her inspiration, motivation and techniques.
Outdoor Color Visions: The Art of Mandy Chowen
Aug. 23-Oct. 15
Explore the dream-like world of Mandy Chowen’s altered landscapes. Chowen creates her art by layering thin washes of paint color, resulting in a translucent glow that seems to come from within. Her works vibrate with light and color, each eliciting a unique emotional response. On Aug. 26, stop by between noon-2 p.m. for a Meet & Greet with the artist to learn about her inspiration and processes.
