About the Artists
Kalin Anderson

My art is largely influenced by my upbringing in the mountains of Western Montana, as well as my time spent living here in Minnesota surrounded by the prairies and farmland. I have always been drawn to visual expression, and I pursued this passion at the University of Idaho, where I earned a BFA in Interior Design and Architecture.
I create impasto works in oils, exploring the versatility of both the brush and palette knife. My aim is to capture the essence of my subjects with a focus on both form and texture. I enjoy the challenge of coaxing the appearance of softness out of the harsh edge of the knife and creating blended scenes that showcase the textures that the tool provides. The brush offers more delicate application of detail and subtle blending.
My work often focuses on the beauty of natural forms, particularly the weathered textures of timeworn structures and the interplay of light and shadow. I find inspiration in the surrounding environment, including the local trees and flora, the vastness of the sky, and the subtle details of everyday objects.
