Newton Dining Terrace

Nestled into the hillside, the two-level Newton Dining Terrace provides plenty of space for patio dining against the stunning backdrop of the Arboretum’s gardens. Deemed a favorite place for lunch, snacks or coffee by visitors, this area features lacy, thornless honey locusts and fine-leafed linden trees that provide ample shade. Surrounding perennials add eye-catching seasonal color and garden inspiration. Large container plantings dot the patio space and feature miniature trees that provide height and a variety of edibles, vegetables, herbs and annuals for color and form, including non-hardy Japanese maples. Visitors can sit, relax and eat while taking in the granite fountain, stone walls, gray paving stones and the nearby Tropical Splendor sculpture.
