Nestled along the edge of Iris Pond near the Sensory Garden, the Iris Garden features more than 500 taxa of Iris that burst into bloom in late May or early June. The delightful collection features flowers with many different colors, shapes, sizes and scents and includes both bearded and beardless iris (bearded iris have a fuzzy “beard” on the fall, or the part of the iris bloom that hangs down).
While the Iris Garden is the best place to find the largest variety of iris at the Arboretum, visitors can also find examples of iris in perennial borders in the MacMillan and Morgan Terrace Gardens and Elizabeth Carr Slade Perennial Garden.
