The Arboretum's mesmerizing Winter Lights display opens for a limited-admission, photographers-only night, on a special Wednesday night only! Registrants will also receive access to a pre-recorded webinar with Night Sky Photographer, Dr. Mike Shaw, to help them make the most of the onsite photography experience. Photographers may view the recording of the webinar any time before their ticket date.
At the Special Access Photographer's Evening:
- Photographers only! A limit of 200 photographer-only visitors ensures a quality photographing experience.
- The Arboretum’s normal "no-tripods" rule is suspended for Photographer’s Special Access Night.
- This premier experience provides ample time for long exposures.
- Photograph and experiment at your leisure.
- Spend time with other photographers and photography enthusiasts.
- Use the hashtag #winterlightsarbmn to post a favorite image from the evening for possible exposure on the Arb's Instagram and Facebook pages!
Suggested equipment to bring with you:
- DSLR, Mirrorless camera, or High quality Bridge Camera.
- Tripod
- Lenses of your choice
- Sturdy shoes for walking and shooting over uneven ground and snow
- Warm clothing and gloves for winter weather
- Headlamp with a red bulb or small flashlight to protect your night vision (Optional)
- Hand Warmers (Optional)
- Personal snack/beverage (Optional)
Weather: This event will run with snow or cold, but a rain date may be scheduled if rain or sleet is imminent or a National Weather Service Winter Weather Warning has been issued.
You will receive a bar-code ticket for entry to the Arboretum in your email purchase confirmation. Your ticket is valid for entry on the day of your class. Present your ticket to the gate attendant as you enter the Arboretum. You may stay at the Arboretum after class as long as you want during our operating hours.

Waitlist
The best chance of being enrolled in a sold out class is to add your name to the waitlist. Click the "waitlist" button or link next to the class and complete the form. There is no obligation to register if a spot opens. If the waitlist shows enough demand, additional sessions may be added.
