All About Dogs Day

Join our annual celebration of dogs in nature!

Back by pup-ular demand! All About Dogs Day is a perfect opportunity to walk the trails, heel for photos and meet other dog-lovers amid the beauty of our 65-acre Dog Commons. This event is open to all dog owners and their pups. Shop with up to 40 local pet vendors at our Dog Expo while also enjoying door prizes, a scavenger hunt and dog-friendly contests.

The Arboretum’s Dog Commons area is not “just an on-leash dog trail." It is about the entire experience of being outside in a plant-rich landscape with an animal companion. A goal of the Dog Commons is to inspire a shift from walking the dog as a chore to walking the dog as a mindful and restorative experience that benefits health and well-being for humans and pets.

All dogs must remain on-leash at all times and be up to date on all vaccinations.

Contests

Do you have a talented pup, the cutest diva in town or maybe the best dog and owner look-alike? Enter one (or all) of our contests for a chance to win prizes.  You can pre-register here. On the day of the event, we will call the pre-registered contestants up to the stage, contest by contest, where they will be judged by the audience and a winner will be selected. Doga with Kristin Trudeau - 10:00 a.m.

In Kristin’s one-hour doga class, mats are arranged to give dogs their space. Dogs should be on leash at all times during doga. The first 10-15 minutes Kristin teaches some dog massage techniques to try on your pup. This really allows for you and your dog to settle into the space; creating a calm, relaxed atmosphere. If you’re calm, your dog will follow suit! The next 30 minutes contains yoga postures and sequences that allow for connecting and bonding with your dog, no matter what their size. The final 15 minutes is spent relaxing in savasana with your dog - aaahhhhh.

Kristin Trudeau is founder of Yoga Layheehoo and a 200-hour certified vinyasa yoga instructor with a 25-hour certification to teach children with neurodiverse needs.  She's combined her love of dogs and yoga and has taught dozens of doga classes.  Practicing yoga with your pup has been proven to be beneficial for both the dog and human - lowering blood pressure, decreasing stress and anxiety, building trust and enhancing your bond. You'll be amazed how your chill vibe rubs off on your furry family member!
