The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is the perfect intersection of art and nature with over 100 works of art plus nature-based art galleries and shows year-round. Visitors are welcome to explore the 3 indoor, rotating exhibitions and then visit the grounds to see the collections along Three-Mile Drive and in the Harrison Sculpture Garden, home of the Dakota Sacred Hoop Walk. 

Indigenous peoples receive waived general daily admission to the Arboretum by calling 612-301-6775 to make a reservation.

  • Fresh Perspectives

    April 2-May 5

    The Arboretum welcomes the Minnesota Artists Association. Organized during the Great Depression in 1937, the MAA is the longest-standing artists organization in Minnesota. This exhibit features work from contemporary artists working in all media, including sculpture, painting, drawing, collage and photography. 

    Cost: This exhibit is included with general daily admission. Indigenous peoples receive waived general daily admission to the Arboretum when making a reservation by calling 612-301-6775.

  • Nature Speaks

    April 18-May 27


    Spend some time alone in nature and Nature will speak to you. This is what artist Ruth Jensen McGrath discovered during pandemic times in 2020. Each of her oil paintings in this exhibition is accompanied by a personal poem she created to reveal what nature has to say. Slow down and immerse yourself in the beautiful oil paintings as you read the poetry and allow nature speak to you as well. Meet Ruth Jensen McGrath, and discover her inspiration, at an Artist Meet & Greet from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20.

  • Portraits of the Plots: Biodiversity at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve

    March 22-June 21


    Don Luce presents a series of paintings that capture the character of the individual test plots that make up Cedar Creek’s Big Biodiversity (Big Bio) experiment. The paintings were made in a process that mimicked the growth of the plots, starting from a sand-colored base, with details of the plants layered on top.

Symbiosis in Nature: Sculptures by Annie Mariano

Grand opening at the Gala in the Gardens at 6 p.m. on June 13; exhibit runs June 13-Sept 7

Explore the Arboretum grounds in a whole new way during this exhibition of nature-inspired sculptures by metalwork artist Annie Mariano. Located on sites throughout the Arboretum’s gardens, Mariano’s grand sculptures invite viewers to engage more deeply with nature — exploring themes of symbiosis in nature and between art and nature itself.
